Nail Bar Milwaukee - Downer Avenue

We used nail bar for our wedding. Myself and my bridesmaids went the morning before my wedding and everyone loved their nails. They were easy to work with for a large group and the nail artists all did a fantastic job. The video is from the day of and photos are about 2 weeks out. I got a no chip mani and pedi and even now almost 3 weeks later, other than the grow out my nails still look just as fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

I have been here twice. Unfortunately neither time went well. I got a set of gel/acrylics put on for my sister's wedding and 2 weeks later they were taken off to reveal two of my nails were black and blue. It was not fungus thankfully, but they were bruised from something that burned me while curing under the light. I decided to try again last Tues and just get a no-chip CHROME manicure. I was told to pick out a color and when I asked where the chrome swatches/colors were, the lady at the desk said they didn't know. This surprised me because the other lady behind the desk had a pretty set of red chrome nails on herself. So I showed the nail tech a photo instead. Unfortunately the shade I got was far off from the photo. But even still, the color did not have a mirror finish at all. And I know this might be due to technique and possibly painting too many nails at one time. It also bubbled up and after 2 attempts, we had to leave it that way. The tech was nice but I really felt the chrome application should be refined before charging $15 extra. I walked away spending $75 on nails I took off a few days later.

I went back and forth on if I wanted to leave this review since I’ve been going to Nail Bar on downer for the last few years at this point and always recommended them to friends. I really can’t justify getting nails done here anymore for the price they charge and the quality you receive. I went and got a dip mani with chrome yesterday with a friend, who also got a dip mani. While hers turned out fantastic (her tech was Jerry) mine are very disappointing (my tech was Kim). These photos are from my mani yesterday, and they speak for themselves. Extremely thick dip, large gaps from the cuticle, the nice almond shape I had created before the appointment is gone, top coat not even covering the entirety of the nail. I can feel this dip sitting on top of my nails and it’s uncomfortable. My friend and I were seated right next to each other so it was easy to see the difference in the effort put forth between the nail techs. Jerry was very meticulous with my friends nails while Kim went faster and was having multiple conversations with staff members simultaneously. The oddest part about the whole appointment was when my friend and I were asked what high school we go to (I am a registered nurse and she is a school teacher…). Kim and jerry looked extremely shocked by this? Just not very professional. Nail Bar posts photos of incredible client manicures to their instagram often, however I feel that the odds of you actually getting a manicure done that nicely are pretty slim. Due to this I’ve decided I just can’t keep going to Nail Bar and justifying over $75 manicures for the service I end up getting.

I originally booked my appointment for 7:00am and had shown up for the appointment. The door was locked and no one was answering the phone. I called multiple times, I checked and it said it opened at 9. I rescheduled and thought that’s weird the scheduling must have been off. Why would it schedule for a time they were closed. I rescheduled for 9 and had shown up at that time. Checked my card statement when I was there and noticed they charged a no show fee. When I explained to the staff they said there is a charge for no shows and I told them I was there and called multiple times. No one answered the door or phone. She said reception doesn’t come until 8 but assured someone was there and refused to refund the cancellation. A manager was supposed to call me back and has yet to contact me. The pedicure I received was smudged and ended up chipping the same day. Not to mention they did not remove all calluses so I have to pay for another pedicure somewhere else. Waste of time waste of money and terrible service. Please read the reviews the one star ones are all accurate. Never again
